Change.  Some people thrive on it.  Others avoid it.  We didn’t really have a choice in this case.  These website tips will show you the way.

Maybe you’ve seen prior blog posts where we’ve mentioned the trials and tribulations of keeping a website up and running.  If you have an endless source of cash, you can pay lots of money to someone to manage your website for you.  Then you really don’t have to worry about newer versions, significant updates to applications, etc.

So, this all started several months ago when there were significant changes to WordPress and WooCommerce – the two applications our website is built on.  And the Dante theme we were using didn’t update their application to comply with those changes.  Our web developer was not proactive in keeping our website up to date or testing major changes.  Long story short – our website broke when they applied the new changes without testing.

Website Tips to help you out

We decided at that point to make some changes.  New web support, new web host, new domain host and simplify the way we had our website set up.  It may not be as polished as the old site, but very functional and (we hope) easy for you to use.  Check out some website tips to guide your way.

A couple of challenges to overcome though.  Moving the website from https to http.  What does that mean?  Https is needed if you have a store on the site.  We don’t (yet) and aren’t sure we ever will.  Google wants to make sure that you know it’s “unsafe” – according to them.  We aren’t asking for your personal information and we don’t sell our email contact info, so you’re safe with us.

The easiest way to get to our website?  Type in www.sunrivermetalworks.com.

If you type in Sunriver Metal Works in a search line, this is probably what you will see.

Don’t worry.  Just do this to correct the situation and go to our website:

Once you “Proceed”, you shouldn’t see this error message again.  Google just wants you to be “safe”.  On to the website!
