We have retired in Arizona and appreciate your support over the years. Stay tuned for our new creative adventures! – Mike & Pat

It started with our neighbor saying “It can quit snowing any time.  I’m getting tired of it.”  We’re kind of feeling the same way right now.  So, it’s definitely a “snow snow go away” kind of day.

Snow Snow Go Away

It’s really a rain rain go away sentiment, but since we aren’t living in the Willamette Valley – it’s now snow.  Maybe we’ve just been spoiled.  The first year we lived in Central Oregon seemed pretty typical.  A good dump of snow once a month, then an inch here or there.  The next two years were drought years, so we were praying for snow.  The fourth year, we had a snow dump before each holiday.  All was right with the world of skiers.  We know this year must be a bit abnormal because of our neighbors comment.  He’s been living in Central Oregon for 20+ years.

Tonight, we’re supposed to get Snowmageddon Part 2.  Part 1 happened right before Christmas.  We received about 18″ to 2 feet depending on who you asked.  This storm is headed up from California.  They have closed the Redmond airport until Thursday, so it must be bad.  Then again, it could bypass us altogether.

It’s hard to know which weather forecast to believe.  There’s National Weather Service, the Weather Channel, the Wunderground, and one local channel.  Between all of those learned authorities, you would think one of them could get it right.  Maybe you just have to play the odds and take an average between them.  Anyway, we know what we will be doing tomorrow morning and probably late afternoon.  Shoveling snow.

What Does This Mean?

We have quite a bit of area to shovel and plow.  We’ll be spending about 2 to 3 hours for each snow removal stint.  In between time, we’ll be recovering.  Translation – not working on Sunriver Metal Works projects.  And it’s cold as well.  It’s hard to get the temperature at a steady 70 degrees in our shipping container/paint booth to spray clear coat.  It’s a hit or miss proposition.  So, projects get done as we’re able to fit them in.

What doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger.  So they say.  This evening we’ll try and get a good night’s sleep to prepare for tomorrow mornings snow offerings.  The sun will shine Thursday and Friday, just in time for the next storm starting this weekend.  It may sound like whining.  Well, it is.  Visions of wonderful spring, summer, and fall will just have to keep us going right now.

And, we need to make a taller snow gauge!
