Description
There’s usually a story behind the custom requests we receive. This one is particularly touching.
“My mother’s favorite author is Wilbur Smith. Her father, who died of cancer in 2005 when I was in 4th grade, owned many of his books all of which contributed to a series. These books were passed down to my mother and was something that they shared only between the two of them. Two years ago, during my freshman year of college, my mother sent me the first book in the series, saying that these books were something her and my grandfather shared and it was time I joined this tradition. I finally sat down to read the first one during a stressful week earlier this semester. On one of the first pages the father tells his son “Fight from the first stroke, not just when you are hurt or angry, or you might not survive that first wound.” My mother has fought her way through many battles and I wanted to use this piece as a thank you for giving me someone and something to believe in. She taught me to be my own person, believe in myself whole-heartedly, and to never compromise who I am for someone else. It also serves as a reminder and memory piece of her father, one of my favorite people in the whole world who I miss every day.”
