The time has come for some extended vacation time. Some call it retirement. But we prefer to call it an extended vacation.
So Long, Farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye
The business has definitely slowed down since our last post was written in March 2022. And we have slowed down as well. We’re enjoying the start up of the next chapter of our life in Arizona. We’re going to move from our home in Oregon to Arizona sometime in the next few months. Our house is in the final phase of construction, and we are definitely downsizing.
Mike has been selective in the projects he’s been creating in the shop. It’s been a difficult transition for him. He loves what he’s done with our business, Sunriver Metal Works. We started it in 2013 as a hobby. We went from doing small local craft shows to only creating custom signs and art for our clients. We’ve met some amazing people and developed quite a portfolio of work.
What Mike has come to realize in this last year is that his body is telling him to slow down. After 20 plus years building homes in Oregon, the aches and pains of accumulated strenuous work is taking its toll. Man handling 4′ x 8′ sheets of cold rolled steel isn’t as easy as it used to be. Even though he has made modifications to his shop to accommodate this, the aches and pains seem to be ever present. Except that is, when we’re in Arizona.
Our current plan is to move into our Arizona home next month and stay there until July. We’ll be back in Oregon to finish a few projects for some of our faithful customers and clear the decks here in Sunriver. We have loved our life here in this wonderful Central Oregon community. Our next chapter is calling us. And we can’t wait.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! To all of our wonderful customers. Several of you have become friends we will stay in touch with in the future. We have appreciated your ideas for creating metal art and signs that have pushed us in areas we never thought possible. Our life has been changed because of you.
We’ll be keeping the website active for a while longer. Use our contact form to keep in touch. We will let you know when we are no longer taking orders.
