It’s always fun to play for a while, but now we’re back to work after vacation. We’ve seen friends and family (all socially distanced), but quarantining at home means work!
Back To Work After Vacation
This is the second time we’ve been on the road during the coronavirus pandemic. The first time, we were in Texas when things started shutting down. Read more about it in our blog post.
If there’s one thing we learned about traveling during the pandemic, it’s to have the motorhome well stocked so you quarantine while headed down the road. We even signed up for a new card during this trip that kept us out of the truck stop stores. Every little measure helps!
It’s actually quite easy to quarantine when you’re in your own motorhome. Our fridge and freezer were well stocked. You can call in advance to reserve spots for the night, so you have minimal contact with people. And, you’re never in big super spreader parties. A friend or family member here or there that are all very responsible in their approaches.
Traveling Across The States
We learned that each state certainly looks at this pandemic differently. Even in our own state! Our first stop was in Oregon, where the owner stated “no masks required here!” Our masks were on, however, and nothing more was said. We traveled through Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Montana. When you can travel for stretches of 350 to 400 miles, you really don’t have exposure to people. Where we did stop at an overnight, people for the most part were responsible. But again, within one state you could have vastly different attitudes and opinions.
Laying Low
Before we left on our trip, we were laying low and working at home. The same carried through on our trip for the most part. It was just good to get out on the road and see some sights. We love traveling in September. Although we had some wind, we actually only had one day of rain. And it was short lived.
So now we’re home and back to work after vacation. We had several contacts and orders during the trip and everyone was great about waiting until we got back. Besides catching up, it gives us the opportunity to quarantine before seeing friends again. As this is being written, Mike is back in the shop cutting out pieces for a few of those orders. You have to work back into the groove slowly!
It was great to get out, but we there’s no place like home!
