Nothing makes me happier than creating something special for people who truly love horses. My kingdom for a horse is a sentiment that many people have secretly thought over the years.
Before we moved to Central Oregon, I found a home for my aged horse Andy. He was going to live at an adaptive riding center and spend the rest of his years being loved, eating grass, and not working too hard. A perfect life for a horse in his later years. When the center lost funding, they closed their doors. A family stepped forward that wanted to adopt Andy for their 3 granddaughters. I made a trip to the valley to meet Andy’s new caretakers and knew the minute I saw his new home, that it was the right place for him. The family absolutely fell in love with Andy.
The one thing missing was a nameplate on his stall. That’s what I did today–design, cut, and patina Andy’s new nameplate. It’s so cool – I love it! I hope they do to.
So here’s a follow-up to this story. Brittany owned Andy prior to me. She contacted us last summer looking for Andy. She moved back into the Portland area and wanted to see how he was doing. I contacted the center’s co-owner, and she contacted the family who had taken him on. Brittany visited with him and sent photos. Andy is still doing great!
