Today is one of those days. Nothing seems to be going right. Grumpy is the new happy. Need inspiration? Take a break!
Our business life seems to be feast or famine. Lately, it seems to be feast. All work and no play makes for unhappy campers. And, we’re definitely not camping enough.
Solution – when friends ask if you are up for a kayak trip down the Deschutes, you answer – YES!
It’s always a good thing to have a break in your routine. A week ago, Mike’s son and daughter and their significant others came for a visit. We had lots of fun. Kayaking down a stretch of the Deschutes took up one afternoon. Sharing a Cycle Pub for 6 on another afternoon was a hoot. You bicycle on a round bike for 6 (yes – check it out) around Bend, Oregon for 2 hours sampling beer from various local craft breweries. Visiting with family is always enjoyable.
Back to the shop and tragedy strikes (well – sort of). Mike slices his thumb open trying to catch a pheasant panel he’s been working on. Trip to the Urgent Care clinic on a Saturday afternoon. We’re stacked up on orders, so we just take a breath and figure out how to respond.
Back to the visiting friends. So when you can’t do work because the stitches have to heal a bit, you have to recreate. We’ll do that for the next couple of days. After our first evening of BBQ, beer and wine, we’re ready for a fun day of kayaking, exploring, food, and beverages. Then it’s back to work tomorrow afternoon, delivering 35 pieces of fish art to the Deschutes River Conservancy for their annual fund raiser.
We’re sure a little break will help our attitude. As we said before – need inspiration? Take a break!
