We have retired in Arizona and appreciate your support over the years. Stay tuned for our new creative adventures! – Mike & Pat

Looks like it’s going to be a white Christmas at Sunriver Metal Works this year!

We’re scurrying around trying to get last minute local orders done.  The reason?  We’re supposed to receive between 12 to 15 inches of snow tomorrow.  Which means, we’ll be spending most of the day keeping up with the snow fall.

When we bought this place 4 1/2 years ago, we didn’t think about the amount of asphalt as you drive up to the house.  The foresight of the former owner is great when it comes to parking.  Easy to drive in with a motor home, but a monumental task when it comes to plowing snow.

Over the years, a snow removal plan has emerged.  We each have our assigned tasks around the property.  Mike is on the John Deer Tractor pushing or blowing snow.  Pat cleans sidewalks around the shop, garages, and house.  It usually takes us about two hours each time we go out.  Mike also plows our cul-de-sac when we get a major snow.

A White Christmas isn’t always a good thing

Creating a deadline for this year’s Christmas orders helped quite a bit.  Last year, we were caught filling orders until December 18th.  A major snow storm struck our area (nearly 2 feet of snow), and power was out for 3 days.  That happened on December 13th, so you can imagine how we were scurrying to finish up on the 18th.

white christmas

A white christmas doesn’t always mean good things.

Go figure.  It’s the 13th again, and another major storm is due in tonight.  However, this time we’re prepared.  We’re not rushing around filling last minute orders.

We’re lucky.  This time several people have acknowledged they waited too long.  They are happy to have their orders filled after the 1st of the year.  THANK YOU for your consideration!  We know you’ll be pleased with the result.

Taking 2 weeks off

So beginning December 19th through January 1, we’ll be “on vacation”.  We use that term loosely.  It means we still check emails.  We’re just not “working” per se.  We figured that we deserve a little time off, too.  No blog posts.  No social media posts.  We’ll be MIA.  At least that’s the plan.

Thank you and Merry Christmas!

So to all of our friends, family, and customers, we THANK YOU for making 2016 a very memorable year.  And, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
