We have retired in Arizona and appreciate your support over the years. Stay tuned for our new creative adventures! – Mike & Pat

Creating custom metal art and signs isn’t the only thing we do at Sunriver Metal Works.  We’re also very good at creative problem solving – with metal.

Two years ago, Pat bought a very nice locally made ceramic plate.  She wanted to display it as well as have it handy for use.  After two years, Mike finally had some time to figure out a solution.  So, Pat decided where to hang it.  Mike measured it up and designed a backing plate.  Since the plate had some depth to it, the holder needed to be longer to accommodate that depth.

The end result is perfect.  Another “make it work” moment in custom metal work!

Creative Problem Solving – where there’s a will, there’s a way…

Even before we started the business, Mike was coming up with creative solutions for Pat.  When we lived in the Willamette Valley, our fireplace hearth was fairly small.  Mike created a wood box out of square stock and construction nails that fit perfectly.  He found paint that matched the Vermont Castings wood stove.  Shelves accommodated paper, kindling, and firewood.  The nails allowed the fireplace implements to hang close by.

Custom Products Are Used In Our Home

Many of the items we’ve created are currently used in our home.  Pat wanted to combine metal with mosaic, so Mike cut out the metal insert for the mirror.  Pat used our kitchen mosaic tiles and some of her beads to accent the metal.  Mike finished the edge with some oak board.  Directly below the mirror is the first switch plate Pat designed.  You can find these throughout the house, along with a recent triple switch plate created for a customer.

Chandeliers and Hat Racks

Two years ago, we were asked to use our Deschutes River Fish in a chandelier.  The customer’s time frame was too short, so she ordered just the fish to have her own “make it work” moment.  We liked the idea of a chandelier, however.  So we ordered a base light from Cabella’s and created our front entry chandelier.  Also, we liked the elk hat rack created for a customer as a Christmas present two years ago.  The hat rack now resides in our hall way.

We pride ourselves on our creative problem solving skills.  If you have a need, we can usually figure out a way to solve it.  But, we’ll also tell you if it’s something we can’t do and recommend someone who might be able to help you out.  Give us a try, and we’ll help you figure out a way to steel your idea!
